Tragedy in Binghamton: Firefighter Dies in 3-Alarm Blaze

Binghamton, NY – February 12, 2025

A heartbreaking loss has struck the City of Binghamton, as a dedicated member of the Binghamton Fire Department tragically lost their life while battling a 3-alarm fire in downtown Binghamton last night.

In addition to this devastating loss, two other firefighters sustained injuries and are currently in stable condition at Wilson Hospital.

Authorities, including the Binghamton Police Department and New York State Fire Investigators from the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services , have launched an ongoing investigation into the cause of the fire.

At Fire Alerts of Berks County , our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of the fallen firefighter , the Binghamton Fire Department , and the entire community as they mourn this terrible loss.

As of now, the name of the fallen firefighter has not been released. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

With over 2,100 volunteer fire departments and a history rooted in community service, these organizations are essential to public safety. The Funding Dilemma: A Political Battleground

Man Drives Vehicle into Crowd in New Orleans

Bourbon Street Terror

New Orleans - At 3:15am a male suspect drove his vehicle into a large crowd at the intersection of Bourbon St and Canal St. The Mayor called this a terrorist attack however the FBI fell short of calling it that.

The suspect did open fire striking two Police Officers, they are in stable condition. The suspect is confirmed deceased.

Improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were confirmed to be found in the area and bomb squad technicians are currently working on disarming them.

35 are injured and 10 confirmed deceased. These numbers will change throughout the day.

What we are and How it Began

First off THANK YOU for taking the time to visit our blog. We really appreciate it!

Now a little about us. We started as a Facebook page, Fire Alerts of Berks County, about 13 years ago. We started the page as a way to show the citizens how busy the Fire Departments were in the County. The Facebook page continued to grow and currently has over 124,000 followers and has become the main source of fire related news in Berks County. We then branched out to Schuylkill and Lancaster Counties. We have also started a YouTube channel which is approaching 100,000 views.

Two years ago, we decided to form an LLC and operate the page as a business. All of our moderators are reimbursed for their time. Everyone involved with our operation is in the public safety field. The owners of Fire Alerts of Berks County, LLC are A fulltime Police Officer with over 30 years in the field and 20 years in the volunteer fire service. The other owner was an Assistant Chief for a number of years.

Our goal for Fire Alerts Pennsylvania is to give all Fire Departments across the state the opportunity to have all their information in one centralized location. From fundraisers to new apparatus purchases, we also will gladly publish any incidents, photos or stories you provide us. We are here to help YOU to promote and get the word out about all the hard work you put in day in and day out. We have learned that the public has no idea what we do and how time consuming it is.
